What This Tool Does
The Pinterest Character Counter counts pin descriptions, titles and board text. Preset buttons switch between those fields.
Pinterest's pin spec page lists 100 characters for a title and 800 for a description, and says the description does not appear in the home feed or search feed. The bulk upload guide still lists 500 for a description, so check the field you are filling. Board name and board description limits are not on Pinterest's help pages, so the 50 and 500 presets are commonly used figures that may change.
How to Use This Tool
- Select a preset: Pin Description (800), Pin Title (100), Board Description (500), or Board Name (50).
- Type or paste your text into the input field.
- Watch the character count update in real time.
- Review the progress bar to see how close you are to the limit.
- Copy the text when you're ready to use it on Pinterest.
Why Character Limits Matter
Pinterest's pin spec page sets a length for titles and descriptions. Text past that length may not save as you typed it.
- Pin titles are limited to 100 characters on the pin spec page.
- Pin descriptions can be up to 800 characters on that page. The bulk upload guide still lists 500.
- Board names have no limit published on Pinterest's help pages. 50 characters is a commonly used figure that may change.
- Put the most important words first, in case the field you paste into shows only the start.
- Use the words people would search for, written naturally rather than as a list of keywords.
