    What This Tool Does

The YouTube Text Formatter styles words in a video description, comment or channel About section as bold, italic, underlined, crossed out or monospace Unicode letters, and builds bullet or numbered lists for chapters and links.

In comments, YouTube has at times turned *asterisks* into bold and _underscores_ into italics, so try that first. Descriptions have no style buttons at the time of writing, which is where pasted Unicode letters can help.

    How to Use This Tool

    1. Type or paste your description or comment.
    2. Select the words to style and pick a style from the toolbar.
    3. Check the result in the preview panel.
    4. Click Copy.
    5. Paste into YouTube Studio or the comment box and check how it looks.

    Why Text Formatting Matters

A long description is easier to skim when section labels stand out and lists look like lists.

    • Bold short labels such as Chapters, Links or Gear.
    • Use a numbered or bulleted list for chapters and resources.
    • Keep keywords in plain text, since styled letters may not match searches.
    • Screen readers may read styled letters one by one or skip them.
    • Some devices show boxes for symbols their fonts lack.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make text bold in a YouTube comment?

YouTube has supported *asterisks* for bold and _underscores_ for italics in comments, so try that first. If it does not work, paste Unicode bold letters from this tool.

Does styled text affect how my video is found?

It may. Styled letters are different characters from plain ones, so keep titles, keywords and tags in plain text.

Does it work in Shorts descriptions?

The output is plain Unicode text, so it should paste the same way. Check the Short on your phone after publishing.

Where can I write the description itself?

The YouTube description generator drafts a description with sections you can then style here.

    Is this tool free?

Yes, it is free with no signup.
