    Instagram Font Generator

Type your bio or a caption line and copy it in styles that suit Instagram: bold, italic, bold italic, serif bold, script, bold script, small caps, circled letters and monospace.

These are Unicode characters that look like fonts, not real fonts, so they paste into Instagram as ordinary text. Use them in your bio and captions, and keep your name and username plain.

Styled letters are Unicode symbols, not real bold. Screen readers may read them letter by letter or skip them, and they can be harder to find in search. Use them for a few words, not whole posts, and never for key details such as links or contact information.

    How it works

    1. Type your bio, a caption line or a single heading word.
    2. Compare the styles. Each row shows its character count, which helps with the 150 character bio.
    3. Copy the one you like, paste it into Instagram and check the preview before you save.

Instagram limits to keep in mind

The Instagram character counter checks the limits below. A styled letter counts as one character there, just like a plain one, so the count under each style matches what you paste.

    • Bio: 150 characters.
    • Caption: 2,200 characters.
    • Name and username: 30 characters each.

Where styled letters fit on Instagram

Your bio and captions are the places to use them. A bold word can label what you post about, and a short script line can set a tone at the top of a caption.

Styled letters in your name or username can hurt people finding you, because search may not match them to the plain letters people type. Keep both plain and style the bio instead.

You can also raise or shrink a word in your bio, or flip one caption line upside down. Both depend on the phone's fonts, so preview them in the app before you save. Preview circled bubble letters into a short bio line the same way, and preview it if you frame one style with a border or widen a line into fullwidth letters.

    Before you post

    • Test it in the app: paste into your bio or a draft caption and check how it looks before you save or share.
    • Avoid styling hashtags and links. A styled hashtag is made of different characters, so it may not match the tag people search for, and a styled link will not open.
    • Keep key information in plain text: what you do, where you are, how to contact you and anything people need to read or copy.
    • Check the preview on a small phone, where thin script and small caps are hardest to read and some older phones show empty boxes.

Styling a few words in a longer caption

To bold or italicise only some words inside a full caption, the Instagram text formatter styles just the words you select. For spacing between caption paragraphs, the Instagram line break tool keeps your blank lines in place.

    Frequently asked questions

How do I change the font in my Instagram bio?

Type your bio above, copy a style and paste it into the bio field in Instagram. The look comes with the text because the letters are Unicode characters, but check the preview before you save.

Can I use these fonts in my Instagram name or username?

It is safer not to. Styled letters may stop people finding you when they search for your name, so keep your name and username plain and use styles in your bio and captions.

Do styled letters count toward the 150 character bio limit?

Yes. Each styled letter counts as one character, and the count under each style shows the length. The Instagram character counter checks the bio, caption, comment, name and username limits.

    Should I style my hashtags?

No. A styled hashtag is made of different characters, so it may not match the tag people search for. Keep hashtags and links in plain text.

Why do some letters show as boxes on Instagram?

The phone's fonts do not include those characters. Small caps and circled letters are the likeliest to show as boxes, so check your profile on another phone if you can.
