What this tool does

This fake tweet generator turns a name, handle, text and numbers you choose into a mock tweet image. It is meant for mockups, presentations, lessons and clearly labelled parody, and every mock tweet carries a small label marking it as a mock unless you turn it off. Everything runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded.

How to use the fake tweet generator

1. Enter a fictional display name and handle.
2. Add a profile photo by clicking the upload area or dropping an image onto it, or keep the default avatar.
3. Type the tweet text. The counter shows how X would count it against the 280 character limit.
4. Set the date and time and the numbers, or switch either of them off.
5. Pick the light, dim or dark theme, then choose the scale, padding and background.
6. Keep Mark as mock on, then download the PNG or copy the image.

How to tell if a tweet screenshot is fake

A screenshot alone is never proof that someone posted something, because images like the ones this tool makes are easy to create. Before you believe or share one, try these checks:

• Open the account directly and look for the post, including its replies.
• Search the exact wording on the platform and on a search engine.
• Check whether the numbers, date format and layout match how the platform looks today.
• Look for fonts, spacing or icons that seem slightly off, blurry or misaligned.
• Look for archived copies of the page or a reputable fact check before you share it.

If you cannot find the original post, treat the screenshot as unverified.

Tips for using mock tweets responsibly

• Label mock images clearly as mockups, examples or parody.
